The Nigeria Football Supporters Club was founded in 1955 by football loving Nigerians drawn from different walks of life. It was ostensibly to support the Green Eagles, as the national team was then known. However, it has witnessed lots of remarkable changes in the last four decades with the emergence of Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, firstly, as the National Chairman and latterly as the club’s President-General Worldwide. The Nigerian Football Supporters Club which is also known as Nigerian Football and Other Sports Supporters Club, is renowned for the glitz, glamour and entertainment, particularly, its ceaseless and thoroughly exciting and inspiring singing and dancing whenever and wherever various Nigerian teams are playing.
It would be recalled that the NFSC has won several accolades across the world, including being described by world football ruling body, FIFA as the most disciplined and entertaining football supporters during the 1994 World Cup in USA. The club which has members spread around different parts of the world and with large and active membership in about 25 states in Nigeria, has continued to grow bigger and better, what with the emergence of its former Secretary General, Rev. Samuel Oyameda Ikpea, as the National Chairman of the club at its well attended elections that was held in December 10th, 2016, in Lagos.
